Owwl Council House

For crafting, growing, sustaining and marrying heaven to earth, spirit to flesh.

Council houses are places where people gather to reach collective decisions about community self-regulation issues.

Come do what we do! Come wonder work with us!

The 13 original clan mothers built the first Turtle council house, and it was the place where they learned about being human. The Turtle council house stood for many worlds of time while the Clan Mothers taught their human children the love of the Earth Mother. Every Clan Mother had a body that did not age like those of the Human Tribe. When it was time for the Thirteen Mothers to return to the center of Inner Earth without their bodies, the Turtle Council House disappeared from the face of Mother Earth.

The original Turtle Council House was in the Four Corners area of North America, and it can be accessed through our hearts. The symbol of Turtle is a reminder of the fertile legacy we are being asked to re-member for ALL our Relations. (All this is direct quote from “The Thirteen Original Clan Mothers” by Jamie Sams)

In honor of the original Turtle Council House, and the Indian Nations who still gather in Council house, we are naming the place of our r-evoL-utionary, resilient, self-regulating, inclusive kinship ranch enterprise training is happening, around the council fire. We are calling it OWWL, because OWL shows us how to see through the darkness of the absence of the Sacred fires of love/Munay/Aloha, Ayni-desire for deep connection and caring, and the tao-the way/will of life to live abundantly, in unity and equality for all.

The inward line of your heart, bringing forth your vibrant, sensual, enchanting true nature, as you wonderwork-imagine and craft the things we need to live.

The way of Aloha/conscious loving

In this space, the reigning idea is that as God/Goddess sees us, no one is above the other. We–humans, animals, plants, trees, rocks are all equal. In this space we are open, sacred vessels, channeling the power of heaven above, and earth below.

In Aloha spirit, we see Goddess/God in every form. So we know that the breath of Goddess/God is in our presence, inside of us, and that we live IN the living matrix of Divine love known as Goddess/God.

Aloha calls forth soul to soul, face to face, the spirit of generosity & hospitality. It calls forth, soul to soul, face to face, the spirit of beauty and love.

We see the Eternal Flame of Love that the Great Mystery placed in all of Creation, and we do our best to honor that spiritual essence.

The way of Ayni

Conscious co-commitment
The way of being fulling together while being fully individual

Ayni is an Andean word meaning reciprocity, and means the interchange of loving kindness, knowledge and the fruits of one’s labor, between individuals, humans, plants, animals, the environment and the invisible world of nature spirits.

The purpose of reciprocity is the maintenance of life. There is not a cell in your body that is not in reciprocity at all times.

Ayni calls forth, soul to soul, face to face the values of conscious co-commitment

It is a process of well-being which enhances the energy and creativity of each person. Co-committed living is relationship with others, each one supporting each other in being whole, complete, connected and free, and being our own authority.

It is a process of going all the way, to being a a catalyst for actual-izing full potential and creativity.

Out of the harmony of co-commitment springs a well of enhanced energy that enables all to make a far greater contribution than each individual could make on their own, in isolation.

The way of Tao

The way of nature
The unity that underlies opposites

A way of understanding the true value of yourself as a free-willed individual enfolded within the ever changing patterns of your natural world.

Following the Tao is the art of feeling your way into your own nature.

Your natural world is that which happens of ITSELF SO–a process not under your control.
The self-so process of your natural world, and yourself must be trusted.

The Tao operates of itself. All that is natural operates of itself, there is nothing standing over it making it go on. In the same way, your body operates of itself.

The activity of nature is not self-obstructive. It all works together as a unity (your body does also- your body is a unity) and does not split apart from itself to do something to itself.

The way of humanity’s cooperation with the course or trend of the natural world.

You can discover the truths of the natural world in the flow patterns of water, gas and fire, which are subsequently memorialized and sculpted into stone and wood.

Reconciling sociability with individuality, order with spontaneity, and unity with diversity.

as human beings we must make the gamble of trusting one another in order to have any kind of workable community, we must also take the gamble of trimming our sails to the winds of nature. For our “selves” are inseparable from this kind of universe.

There is no where else to be.

I- Sensei Ingrid Lorna have no intention with this work to establish another religion, or offer absolutism of anything.

The terrifying condition we humans have created for ourselves at this moment in time requires the widest possible range of responses to which every one of us must give our gift, our destiny.

The investigations that will be  given are based on a spiraling series of experimental and improvisational forays, in farming and marrying spirit to flesh. Farming is a curious endeavor, swerving from moments of splendid delirium into sheer terror or frustration, into others of stunned puzzlement and from there into stretches of calm, focused craft.

As you learn from and investigate with me I wish for you to incorporate my findings into your life and then expand my discoveries with your own.

The varied, hilarious, bumbling encounters from my life, encounters that were totally unexpected and yet serendipitous, will provide a loose structuring frame for each investigation you will participate in.

You’ll be pushed and challenged to the brink, as well as loved to the end of the earth.

Most of your inherited beliefs, concepts, and our ready definitions and explanations, really isolate your intelligence from the intimacy of our animal body encounters with the otherness of fully alive life.

OWWL Council House

In the investigations, you'll learn to listen close to the things of nature themselves, allowing weather patterns, pigs, goats, ducks, horses, geese, donkeys, cattle and dogs their own otherness, while you pay attention to their unique manners of living, attuning yourself to all the facets that have been eclipsed by the accepted ways- the conventional mechanistic, monetized, mindless, militant way that is crumbling.

The basis of each investigation is to infuse each moment with the 3 fundamental principle of intention, compassion and doing good.

Each investigation will give many reminders of how these primary principles manifest in our lives. The pattern of repetition like a stitch, weaves a strong fabric of understanding.

Participants live, unlearn, learn work and play alongside our dehesa members.

Participants range in age and life experience and must be teachable.

Present day life at BWD AATL Ranching Enterprises OWWL Council House fuses ancient wisdom with our willingness to experiment in unfolding a freshened human model of each individual taking their place in evolving with their inner potential and with all of nature around them.

We operate by the cycles of grandmother moon, and we create & constitute (bring to reality) our creations with the beauty cycles of Venus, we govern, sustain and contain with the cycles of Jupiter/Neptune

Cohabitation Dehesas

Dehesa- The word comes from the old growth multifunctional agrosylvopastoral systems of Spain. The dehesas of Spain (Montados in Portugal) are examples of ecosystems where humans play a constructive role, maintaining and improving the landscape to benefit wilderness, all its inhabitants and humans equally. The area of land belongs to the village/cohabitors in common.

Forests seem permanent and natural. Few are. For at least 6,000 years men and women have shaped the woods. The forests as we know them are products of craft/art-ing.

Up until our time a forest was not a wilderness. From it might be harvested timber, firewood, tanbark, charcoal, fence and hurdle poles, splints for wattle, grass to pasture sheep, goats, cattle, horses, bison and more, acorns to fatten hogs, honey from beehives, ink from oak galls. In return, the users left the dung of the grazing animals.

A good dehesa looks like a park. The principal trees are oak, and under the trees are grasses and many more forage plants.

No one gets individually rich on a Dehesa, yet all live well. It requires a complex code of use allied to half a dozen crafts (or more) in a system of care and protection for all who come after. This has been going on since the bronze age and before. Since the Neolithic age crops have been planted among the trees.

Arting/Crafting careers

Working for a living= merely surviving

Career-ing= inspiring for a short time

Art-ing/crafting vocation-ing= awakened radiantly happy living a full filling life.

Since humans began to build and settle down, there have been two versions of the world; the world made with wood, and the world made with coal and oil. One lasted 12 to 15 millenia, the other has lasted about 250 years so far, and is crumbling into non being.

Humans arose through the exercise of memory, reason and skill in a world that was warming and blooming. Memory gave to reason its material and skill proved a thought to be true (or not). Skill suggested a turn of the wrist, memory preserved it, reason compared it.

The human attributes-courage, faithfulness, patience, fortitude, prudence and honor were forged where the faculties met, in the making of home in the world.

Human beings learned from the woods around them. The more the people worked with the oak, the more the oak taught them what it could do.

When we talk about prehistoric Britain we tend to think of Stonehenge. What we seldom realize is that Stonehenge is by no means unique. Most of the henges that have been excavated were largely or entirely made of oak posts.

The shapes and patterns of all the henges are called entropic because it is thought that they were created within the eyes itself.

The human mind grew through the knowledge born of Art, of Craft, and in order to make, our ancestors had to imagine. In order to imagine, they had to make. Between thinking/imagining and making (art-ing/crafting) the world we know emerged.

To imagine and to make (art, craft) are reinforcing pairs that awaken your spirit to life a big talented full-filling life.
